Hey there, @BobL.
Thanks for following the thread. I understand how frustrating it can be when your payroll won't update. Rest assured, we will get you back to business with a few simple steps.
Typically we see these errors when the FCS is disabled or not running. Let's start by activating the File Copy Service(FCS) for QuickBooks Desktop to ensure it's running.
- Tap the Windows+R keys on the keyboard to open the Run window.
- In the Run command, type COMPMGMT.MSC and hit OK.
- Click on Services and Applications to open the Data Management Pane.
- Pick Utilities.
- Now scroll down until you see Intuit QuickBooks FCS and double-click it.
- Tap Startup type and choose Manual.
- Press Submit.
Now that we've enabled the FCS, let's run the Reboot.bat file. The Reboot.bat file re-registers QuickBooks-related extensions and helps with resolving these errors.
To do this:
- Close QuickBooks.
- Open the folder containing the reboot.bat file:
- Right-click the QuickBooks Desktop icon on your desktop, and tap on Properties.
- Hit Open file location.
- Right-click the reboot.bat file, and choose Run as Administrator.
- A Command (DOS) window (black window) will open with rapidly scrolling file names. Do not manually close this window. When the reboot.bat file utility has been completed, the window will close automatically.
- Restart your computer.
- Open QuickBooks.
Once QuickBooks is open, you can now run your payroll updates again.
