Currently, the option to hide or remove the bins with zero quantity is still unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop. Please know that we're always taking note of your ideas to improve your QuickBooks Experience. You may visit our blog from time to time to stay current with all our product enhancements and updates.

With regard to setting up default bins in QuickBooks Desktop, this can be done by customizing the columns in the Add / Edit Multiple List Entries window. I'll show you how to do it:

  1. Select Lists from the sidebar menu, then go to Item List.
  2. From the Item drop-down arrow, select Add / Edit Multiple Items.
  3. Click the List drop-down menu, then choose Inventory Parts.
  4. Select the appropriate warehouse from the Site drop-down menu.
  5. Click the Customize Columns button, then hit Default.
  6. Select Default Purchase Bin and Default Sales Bin, then select Add.
  7. Go to the Default Purchase Bin and Default Sales Bin columns, then choose the bin you want to set as default from the drop-down arrow (see below).
  8. When you're done, click Save Changes.

In case you'll need to track the bin location codes and their associated data, you can pull up the Items By Bin Location report from the Reports menu.

I also encourage reading this article to learn more about how the Advanced Inventory feature works in the program: Set up Advanced Inventory.
