Luckily this is happening to only 1 out of 6 users in my company right now. The repair/reboot works great until they somehow get the update again. The update is not being downloaded manually. Right now, I'm trying a workaround where you disable access to the folder where auto-updates get staged. Hopefully that will work for this user until an official fix is released. Having to do a repair/reboot every time is going to be annoying.
Quickbooks really needs to give us control over whether Quickbooks updates or not. It's really annoying when users who don't have Admin privileges on their machines get denied access to Quickbooks because they are determined to be out of date for too long and can't do the update themselves. It's annoying when the Quickbooks server and the clients get so far out of version sync that it starts causing issues and then you have to go and update everyone and the server.
Honestly, I wish they would just kill the Quickbooks Desktop software and force everyone to go to Online or somewhere else. This is the worst software I've ever had to support and I've been in IT for 20 years. If you could actually get support for Quickbooks, it might be easier to deal with. All we get is someone who can walk us through re-installing Quickbooks or using the Tools Hub - if that doesn't work, you're out of luck. I keep urging them to switch to something else, but they are so comfortable and don't want to change. Maybe this will be the wakeup call they need because it is affecting the one user who uses Quickbooks the most.
