Am now using QB Desktop 2019 in "off the shelf" form with no updates, and QB never gives me that annoying login prompt. My old PC was dying in late 2022, so I moved all my work to a new PC. As it happened, I was still able to get my original Amazon download/installation file from 2019.
Key step: any time I was offered Updates, I refused.
My accounting needs are basic enough that the features back in 2000 when I started were already plenty for my company, and nothing Intuit has added since then has really had any value for me. Losing the integration with my bank (after QB expired my product) was a real inconvenience, but IIF files really do work once you get through the (significant) one-time hassle of learning to work with them.
