Exporting and Importing data into quickbooks from one account to the other
This is really frustrating and I hope someone can help as QB support has been 0% on this this far.
We are in the process of purchasing a company that currently runs on Quickbooks Enterprise v23 i believe,
They want to keep their instance of QB. We have now tried multiple ways and failed in trying to import that data into our instance, We only want to export the last 5 years of data from Enterprise.
We have a new instance of Quickbooks Online Advanced and the current dataset is on Quickbooks Enterprise v23
Here is the list of data we want to import:
1. Customer Data
2. Customer Transactions
3. Items
4. Vendors
5. Vendor Transactions
Quickbooks Online CANNOT import any of the IFF files Enterprise exports.
Quickbooks online seems to have a complete different structure flor customer lists (our list is 25k users.
We have even tried to create a new business in the current Quickbooks enterprise and then tried to bring in the above files in IFF and after taking about 4 hours on a Customer Data file - it completes with about 5% success rate and 95% Errors. Without the option to even know what went wrong.
When contacting QB Support they say this is a Microsoft problem? Yip, their unwires for not being able to move data from their own product to another one of their products is someone else's problem. I am beyond lost for words on this. Both these products cost well over 2k a year.
I cant imagine that there is no ability to take data from one instance to another in QB.
All help would be really appreciated on this.

I'll share some information about importing IIF files into QuickBooks Online, sighting.
Currently, the supported file formats you can use to import data to QuickBooks Online are CSV, XLS/XLSX, and Google Sheets.
For IIF files, you may convert them to a supported format before you can import them. There are plenty of file converters that you can search online. Once you're all set up and ready, refer to the articles below to be guided in importing your data:

You can install the trial version of QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise on your local computer. Ask the old owner to send you their backup file (QBB) and you will restore it locally. Then you will run the Condense Data utility to keep only the last 5 years of data and you are ready to convert to QB Online. You can use the trial version to access their historical data for good.

Hi @sighting
If you are still looking for a way to import IIF files into QuickBooks Online then you could use a third party app called Zed Axis that you can find in the Intuit Marketplace that can take IIF files and then import those directly into QuickBooks Online. There is a 30 day free trial you can use to test with your own data to make sure it works for you.
