Here are the following factors trigger the QuickBooks update error:
- Your QuickBooks Desktop update or installation has been corrupted or incomplete.
- Any recent QuickBooks software change, like an installation or uninstallation, may have triggered corruption in the Windows registry.
To resolve this, please start by closing QuickBooks, then enable the QuickBooks Desktop File Copy Service:
- Press the Windows+R keys together from the keyboard to open the Run window.
- Type COMPMGMT.MSC then click OK.
- Select Services and Applications, then click Services.
- Scroll down then double-click Intuit QuickBooks FCS.
- Click on Startup type and choose Manual.
- Then click Apply then OK.
Once you complete these steps, re-validate the payroll service key to refresh the connection:
- Select Employees from the top menu bar.
- Choose My Payroll Service.
- Select Activate Service Key.
- Click Edit from the Service Keys window
- Hit Next, then wait until the process is done.
