Let's work hand in hand to send your file, clarke01. I'll walk you through the entire process.

First, I'd like to know where you want to send your company file. Is it to QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Windows or the online version? It'll help me provide accurate steps to fix this.

If you're referring to sending your QBDT for Mac data to a Windows version, I recommend following the steps below.

Beforehand, ensure the QuickBooks for Mac program is updated to the latest release.

Then, I suggest preparing your data. Please remove any memos longer than 50 characters or contain special characters like !@#$%^&*. Here's how to get your data ready:

  1. Select the Reports menu and then Custom Transaction Detail Report.
  2. From the Dates drop-down menu, select All Dates.
  3. Double-click a transaction with a memo to open it.
  4. Delete the other characters from the memo field and select Save.
  5. Close the transaction.
  6. Repeat the steps for all other transactions.
  7. Re-sort your lists.
  8. Go to File and click Utilities, then Verify Data.

After that, you can start moving your books to the Windows version:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Mac as the admin.
  2. Go to the File menu and select Export.
  3. Choose the To QuickBooks for Windows button.
  4. If you get a prompt to verify before you back up, hit Verify.
  5. Name the company file (don't add special characters) and choose the folder to save it. Then, select Save.
  6. Enter and confirm your password, then select OK. Select OK again.
  7. Move the data to your Windows computer. Most people do this with a USB flash drive, online storage, or email if it is small enough.
  8. Restore the data in QuickBooks for Windows.

For more details about the process, please see this article: Move QuickBooks for Mac file to QuickBooks for Windows.

However, if you want to move your data to another Mac computer, you'll have to create a backup first before performing the steps below.

Then, let's deauthorize your old computer. Rest assured that this process will only release the license and not affect your program. Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the QuickBooks menu and then choose Manage My License, then Deauthorize This Computer.
  2. Once you get the prompt, select Deauthorize and Quit.
  3. Re-open the program and follow the registration process. It'll let you enter a different license. If you encounter issues, refer to this article for guidance: Fix activation, license, and product numbers issues.

After that, restore your company file.

In case you want to migrate your Mac file to the online version, I recommend following the steps in this article: Move from QuickBooks Desktop for Mac to QuickBooks Online.

In case you're sending it somewhere else, I recommend sharing additional details so I can provide accurate steps to achieve this.
