Closing date and password per user
Hi, I am using QuickBooks Enterprise Desktop.
Is there a way we can set users permission to edit closed transactions for some time (30 minutes)?
Can each user have their own password for editing closed transactions?

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us, Elvis. I'm here to help share some information about setting up the closing date in QuickBooks.
Since QuickBooks Desktop does not require closing books as part of year-end procedures, the option to limit the access is to close the accounting period by setting up a closing date and close date password. As of now, setting up the user's permission to edit closed transactions in QuickBooks isn't available yet. We can't provide each user to have their own password for editing closed transactions, we can set one password.
Once you change the date in QuickBooks, your user can only add bills after the closing date you've set up.
The system follows the closing date set in the Company Preferences window. To do it manually, you can remove and reopen the closed accounting period.
- Go to the Edit menu.
- Select Preferences.
- Choose the Accounting menu.
- Select the Company Preferences tab.
- In the Closing Date section, click the Set Date/Password button.
- Delete the date in the Closing Date field.
- Hit OK.

No, there isn't a way to do that.

Big Red Consulting, thanks for answering user questions with knowledgeable answers. I use QuickBooks Enterprise Contractor 2022 desktop edition. I have a user that has full access to Accounts Receivable and Sales. We set a closing date at the end of March to keep other users from making changes in prior periods. I want to allow this user to be able to enter the password we set up to edit closed transactions but we don't know where to find that in the user menu. Can you help? Currently the error says: You need "Full" access under Edit Closed Transactions to perform this action.
