We appreciate you for posting here in the Community, @ormic. Let me help you regarding the issue you're experiencing when backing up data in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
You may receive errors when Intuit Data Protect (DP) didn't successfully back up the open files:
- The QuickBooks company file is open via a mapped network drive while backing up occurs.
- IBuEngHost.exe is running as the local user instead of the user SYSTEM.
- Your Windows File System is not NTFS.
In resolving these errors, here are some troubleshooting steps you can do.
If the QuickBooks Desktop file is open via network drive, the first step is:
- Close the QuickBooks company file.
- In the system tray, click the IDP, and choose Open Intuit Data Protect.
- Select Back up now.
The second step is to verify if theIBuEngHost.exe running as the System user and not the local user.
- Click right on the Taskbar and choose Start Task Manager.
- Go to the IBuEngHost.exe and view the user listed in the User Name column. Click 'Show processes from all users' to see IbuEngHost.exe.
- To correct this, the QBIDPService.exe is running, and reboot your system.
- To check if QBIDPService.exe is ongoing, from the Windows run line by typing in Services. msc, open the Services Console, and click Enter.
- QBIDPService.exe should show with a Status of Started. Otherwise, restart your device.
