Let me clear things up about the filing status of your 1099, @vtsarah.
The "In agency" status indicates that the IRS has received your submission, but they have not yet processed or confirmed its approval. However, it does not impact filing deadlines or sending forms to recipients. Once the status changes to "Agency accepted"for your e-file, it means that the filing has been successfully processed and the transaction is complete on their end.
Here are some other common e-filing statuses along with their meanings:
- RECEIVED: Intuit received the submission, but it hasn't been submitted to the agency.
- PREPARED: Intuit converted the submission into the agency-specific format, but it hasn't been submitted to the agency.
- SUCCEEDED_AGENCY: The agency has received the payment or filing.
- FAILED_PREPARATION: Intuit couldn't convert the submission into an agency-specific format. This usually means that there was a problem with the submitted information.
- REJECTED_AGENCY: The agency rejected the submission. Review the Details button for more information.
