Trip Details
Why did QB change it and make it so you can not edit details? I made an entry error and now can not edit it so it will screw up my reports. Has got to be one of the dumbest decisions for them to do

Hello there, @Bullseye001.
Let me share information about editing trip details in QuickBooks Desktop.
When you input mileage directly into the program, it is instantly authorized. Once a trip is in the Approved list, there is no option to edit it. It can only be deleted and recreated.
Here's how to delete:
- Go to the Company menu.
- Choose Enter Vehicle Mileage.
- Select the Previous arrow at the top to open the previously entered mileage.
- Press Ctrl + D on your keyboard to delete the mileage entry.
- Hit Yes to confirm.
Here is an article for detailed information: Set up mileage tracking in QuickBooks Desktop.
I'm also including this link to assist you in managing customer-related tasks. It contains articles on various topics that will guide you through the process: Topics about your company's income and customers.
You can always contact me through this thread if you have any other questions about mileage. I'm more than happy to help. Take care and stay safe!

On older versions that could be done but on the 2023 Premier Plus, there is nothing there to do that and there is even note that says once a trip is "approved" it can not be modified.

I understand that you may need to make changes to the trip, Bullseye001.
Once a trip is approved in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), it cannot be modified. This means that any changes to the trip details, such as the date, starting and ending locations, distance, and purpose, cannot be made once the trip has been approved.
It's important to note that when you directly enter mileage in QBDT, it is automatically approved. Therefore, it is recommended to review and verify all trip details before approving them.
If you need to make changes to the trip, a workaround is available. You can switch back to the Basic Mode for Tracking Mileage and manually put in the transactions from there again. To switch back to the basic version, follow these steps:
- Go to Edit and select Preferences, then select Time & Expenses
- Select Company Preferences and then select the Basic version.
However, please note that if you switch back to the basic version, you won’t be able to copy any data from the advanced version of track mileage to the basic version. Therefore, it is recommended that you secure a copy of the data from the advanced version before reverting to the basic version to have a backup.

I know that and already said that, it is utterly ridiculous you can not make changes. Errors happen.
