Quickbooks desktop keeps crashing each time I try to open a sales receipt.
Help, how do I get QB to stop crashing when I open a sales receipt? I have tried restarting and rebuilding. Nothing is helping and I can't work. Any sneaky tips to trick QB?

Thank you John. I would rather not call customer support if at all possible. That is a absolute last resort if I can't figure out a solution with doing that. Calling is usually a long, frustrating, and often fruitless endeavor that makes me want to pull all my hair out and cry.

No error message and interestingly enough.....that deletes, cleans out the entire "to do list." I will have to go back to my old none condensed version, I need my to do list.

The newest one Premier Plus 2023 Desktop. It is also fully updated...checked that too. It worked fine until about a week ago. Now I fight to get invoices and sales receipts to open. After multiple crashes it will finally open. It is time consuming and very frustrating. Shrug...may just be my new life along with the broken excel payroll downloads. Quickbook's services are seriously slipping.

Maybe it's a bug in the latest update. Consider installing the trial version of QB Desktop 2024 to be sure.

Help has arrived, @WildFish.
Thank you for your initial troubleshooting efforts. I understand how inconvenient it can be to face issues while accessing sales receipts that are crucial for your work. Allow me to provide some additional assistance to discover the reason behind QuickBooks crashing.
Here are various reasons why the program is freezing:
- Your company name may be too lengthy.
- Your QBWUSER.INI file may be damaged or missing.
- There might be corruption on your hard drive.
- Your QuickBooks Desktop installation or program files may be corrupted.
- Your Windows operating system may be damaged.
In this case, let's run Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It helps repair common errors. To proceed, follow the steps below:
- Close QuickBooks.
- Download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it.
- Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
- Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
- Once installed, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.
Next, open this article and go to Step 2: From the Tool Hub, run the Quick Fix my Program section: Fix issues when QuickBooks has stopped working.
However, I recommend contacting our representatives if the issue persists. They can pull up your account securely and investigate further. Rest assured that they will do everything to help you efficiently.
Since sales receipt is one of the most useful customer-related transactions, you'll want to see the complete list of workflows: Accounts Receivable workflows.
You can always get back to me anytime with any other sales concerns. I'll be more than happy to help you out again. Take care, and have a good one.
