I see you're having an issue with Intuit Data Protect (IDP), Murphy. Rest assured, I'm here to share
insights and help you get this fixed.
After your QuickBooks updates, IDP automatically backs up your company file once daily. However, it's possible that a system component is blocking the backup or has been damaged during the update.
To ensure IDP works effectively, it requires access to your firewall. Therefore, I recommend verifying that your firewall settings permit the necessary files for optimal performance.
- Press the Windows key on your keyboard, and type Firewall in the search field.
- Select Allow an app through Windows Firewall, then Allow another app.
- Click Browse and go to Program Files(x86) \Common Files\Intuit\Data Protect.
- Choose QBIDPservice.exe, then Open.
- Select Network types and select the Private checkbox. Select Add.
- Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the files IBUenghost.exe and IntuitDataProtect.exe. If you get a message saying the files already exist, you’re all set.
Then, let's make sure Intuit websites are trusted sites with Internet access and Google Chrome. Please follow the steps below.
- Click the Windows key on your keyboard. Then, type Internet options in the search field.
- Select Security and Trusted sites.
- Choose Sites and add the following websites. You can copy and paste or type them manually. Select Add for each site.
