macOS Sonoma 14.0, QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2021 V20.0.12 R13.2 (Build 1060)
Same old story, Intuit seems to have long since decided it doesn't like Mac users. Not sure why.
Anyway, I upgraded to Sonoma like others here but was surprised and not surprised QuickBooks was broken. I think it's the same bug that has plagued QuickBook for Mac thru a number of past macOS and QB versions, having to do with the Home Page, especially the Company Snapshot view.
Here's what I think works...
- Quit/Force Quit QuickBooks
- Back up your data file
- Back up ~/Library/Preferences/com.intuit.QuickBooks2021.plist
- Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.intuit.QuickBooks2021.plist
- Launch QuickBooks directly from the /Applications folder (don't open an existing file)
- In the Open dialog select Sample Files > Sample Product (or Sample Service)
- At this point QuickBooks will beachball, so Force Quit
- Relaunch QuickBooks from the /Application folder
- QuickBooks should now partially work in the Sample Product file
- Quit QickBooks
- Open your own data file, it should now mostly work
- DO NOT try to open the Home Page, this will crash QuickBooks!
- Use ribbon or menu bar to navigate
