It's great to have you join here in this thread, @CSM-T. Let me share information about processing non-sufficient funds checks received on a sales receipt in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Yes, you're right. For the declined payment of your customer's sales receipt, you can delete it and create an invoice. Doing so will cause your client to have an outstanding payable. Once paid, record it in QBDT.
Here's how:
- Go to the Customers menu and select Receive Payment.
- Choose the customer's name in the Received From dropdown.
- Enter the Amount received. Ensure the date is correct and choose the payment method.
- Select the invoice/s to pay and click Save & Close.
Moreover, design unique templates for your sales forms, like invoices and sales receipts, so you may decide how they'll look and what details to include when delivering them to your clients.
