You are purposely attempting to placate us very annoyed QuickBooks users by deflecting from our issue to offering pablum help articles on areas we are not concerned about.
Please just address the issue at hand. WHEN will your engineers be able to give us a way to get rid of the discovery hub on our QBDT. It is beyond annoying.

I join the others who have complained in this thread about the Discovery Hub. It is annoying to say the least (and the word “annoying” is to use polite language). I detest it. It gets in my way. It is a distraction I do not need and I should be able to turn off. I pay for this program, I don’t need your ads.
I work alone. I have no need of the fancy features it offers, but it persists in nagging me about features I CANNOT USE AND WILL NEVER WANT.
It’s one thing to offer a feature and let me say NO, but the way this is implemented (it offers “maybe later” instead of NO) it nags me repeatedly. I want it to go away. Period. Full stop.

FIX THIS NOW! You've been ignoring your customers for way too long. This thread and the request to remove your FORCED SPAM feature dates all the way back to February 2022. It's unacceptable that you've allowed this to continue for so long. Remove the DISCOVERY HUB immediately! It's a huge annoyance and it steals valuable time and productivity since there's no way to turn off these annoying ads. I paid for a software license and I don't want to be bombarded with ads. Every time the DISCOVERY HUB pops up, it obstructs my workflow and the only way to get rid of it is to completely exit QBooks and restart. I have no interest in anything it's trying to sell me, and I will never allow it to distract me from my work. TURN IT OFF NOW!

I'm wondering when you all will realize this is just the latest tactic to get us all to move to Quickbooks Online. Today I had a popup that refused to go away until I rebooted my entire computer. Nice, sly manipulation, right? Make us all tear our hair out until we abandon Quickbooks Desktop, hopefully in favor of QBO but if not, no biggie, they're making so much money off Online it doesn't matter. These responses about developers working around the clock to make Desktop better is BS, they are working around the clock to find new ways to make us all switch from Desktop. And they're doing a really good job if this thread is any indication.

I appreciate you for joining in on this thread, Crystal.
At this time, we're unable to remove the Discovery Hub feature from the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) menu bar. That said, I'd encourage you to submit your feedback directly to our software engineers. They collect customer suggestions that might be a subject for consideration for our future product enhancements.
Here's how:
- Go to the Help menu and click Send Feedback Online.
- Select the Product Suggestion option.
- Enter your feature request and select the Send Feedback button.
I'll also share a collection of articles that may help with your future issues: Help Articles for QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know in the comments below if you have other QBDT-related concerns. I'm always here to help. Stay safe!

I have the box checked for no pop-ups and I still had the stupid discovery hub pop up and get locked in place. had to shut down qbooks to get rid of.
Still cannot enter bills against purchase orders once items are received in advanced inventory. This issue has been going on since version 2021 and they refuse to fix it.
If you are looking for a good software to use - DO NOT BUY QUICK BOOKS or INTUIT PRODUCTS

It's been 18 months since the first post and it's still happening. I will never move to QBO since it isn't as full featured so there's no point in advertising to me. I have the pop up window setting turned off and this doesn't help. Seems pretty clear that Intuit doesn't care about it's customers. I did do one of the send feedback forms but I assume no one is listening.

I can understand how frustrating and disappointing it must be for you to experience these ongoing issues with QuickBooks for such a long period of time, @actjaney.

They won't remove it, I am sure they are making money for ads. They don't listen, they don't care, I remember when the product was reliable and not intrusive. Trust me I am actively looking for a new program and I have been a user since 1986.

Works perfectly for me, too. Thank you Onetheedge!
For those not familiar with the host file, it's located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc.
Windows may require elevated permission to edit this file so here's an easy way:
Close Quickbooks
Copy the hosts file to the desktop,
Open it with Notepad.
Paste the 127.0.0.1 lines shown by Ontheedge at the bottom and save the file.
Drag the newly saved file back to its original location, forcing an overwrite when prompted
Open QB and the annoying hub is gone. If you run into any update or other functionality problems (I haven't), undo the above steps while reveling in your savviness. You have incredible power now. Use it wisely and always remember to be modest! You're welcome.

Did you ever get this fixed. My new one is doing it and it will not close and like you said it is blocking stuff. It had an X which should close it and a button that says "Got it" and neither one will make it go down. Sooooo frustrating.

turning off the pop up option does not disable Discovery Hub. This is more than annoying. It blocks what I'm trying to see, slows me down and when my clients continue to complain its time to move to a different software.

Why even waste the time to respond when you and everyone else here knows that this is not the solution. Quickbooks experts need to learn how to use QB before commenting on how to fix it.

How do I get rid of the horizontal new toolbar that showed up after this most recent update? I don't need it and it takes up too much space. Also, won't let me see or use the buttons on the bottom like save and close or save and new. I have my font larger, but this was never an issue in the past. I use QB desktop and just upgraded to 2024

Top left click on "view" then check hide icon bar. If its already checked check one of the other options then go back to it. I have to do this everytime I open quickbook.

Here we are in 2024 and the fkn a$ $clowns STILL do not care what we have to say and this discovery hub BS still is here.
Try using QB in virtual on a guest machine and accidentally hit that stupid discovery hub and you cannot find an X or any way to close it no matter how you try to change the screen layout- I have to close the whole program ... This is ridiculous !
Many people have bitched for decades about QB forcing you to sign in and not letting you opt out of that - Quickbooks reply is " it is for your security"
People reply " I am the SOLE user of my account, no employees and nobody has access to it, I do not want to have to sign in"
Quickooks " it is for your security"
People reply " I AM THE ONLY ONE USING MY FKN MACHINE "
QB.... crickets, we do not care.
Your lack of being able to drag screens across multiple displays sucks a$ $, copy and paste - why can't your engineers give us a right click dialogue box with those options to do so ACROSS THE WHOLE PLATFORM. instead of having to use ctrl c and v. here and there
Once again Intuit shows their a$ $es and hopefully someone reads all the years of complaints on this forum and makes a rip off clone of quickbooks . Watch how fast your accounts will dwindle to nothing
