Let me make this up to you, @SusanT115.
Before anything else, did you happen to encounter any error messages while trying to open QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT)? This way, I'll be able to provide you with an appropriate solution depending on your scenario.
While waiting for your reply, let's run some troubleshooting steps to isolate this.
First, let's download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub. This way we'll be able to stop and prevent common errors. Here's how:
- Close QuickBooks.
- Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub's most recent version (1.6.0.3). Save the document in a location that's easy to find (like your Downloads folder or your Windows desktop). If you've installed Tool Hub before and can't find which version you have, just click on the Home tab and the version will be displayed at the bottom.
- Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
- Follow the on-screen steps to install.
- When done installing, double-click on the icon on your Windows desktop to open. If you can't find the icon, search for QuickBooks Too Hub on your Windows.
Next, let's run the QuickFix my Program from the Tool Hub.
- In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
- Click on Quick Fix my Program.
- Start QBDT and open your data file.
If you still can't open QBDT, let's go ahead and proceed with solution 2 which is to suppress the QBDT application. This will determine if there's some damage to your company file and not with QuickBooks.
To do this:
- Press and hold the Ctrl key, then double-click on the QBDT icon. Don't release the Ctrl key until you see the No Company Open window, QuickBooks freezes, or gives you an error.
- Select a company file, then choose Open.
If the issue still persists, proceed to Solution 3.
