Enterprise Desktop Set-up
Is anyone using Enterprise Desktop on a peer-to-peer network? Do you have any problems with multi-user connectivity?
We upgraded from QP Pro 2019 several months ago but continue to have multi-user issues from time to time. We think we figured out the problem, in that we have not been installing the QB updates in the proper order. I recently contacted our IT company to ask if they would handle the updates going forward, and I received a scathing reply which stated, among other things, that we did not configure Enterprise in the proper way because according to the IT guy, Enterprise MUST be a client/server environment and NOT on peer-to-peer network. They are recommending we purchase a server, which I believe might be overkill. On a normal workday, there are 2 users logged in at the same time, on occasion 3 users, and rarely 4 users which is the max number of users ever logged in simultaneously. Everything I see on Intuit's site does list peer-to-peer as an workable configuration. We had used prior versions of QB in a peer-to-peer set up for 20+ years and it worked fine until our company file grew too large, which is why we were told to switch to Enterprise.
