Thanks for the tip, Lauren.  Unfortunate all the way around.  I'd be curious to see if Quickbooks has received ANY positive feedback on this change.  Seems like the change was made by someone who has no real world experience running a business.

This sounds very helpful, I look forward to trying it out!  Thank you - you're more helpful than Intuit Customer Service!

(Hmm - in retrospect - that's not all that much of a compliment, is it?)

Thank you Lauren for the suggestion. I will try that. Clearly Intuit just expects us to get used to to. I am going to try out your work around. Thanks again.

THANK YOU!!!!

The edit menu option is awesome - I turned off those STUPID idiotic self-promotional tabs (like Banking that has nothing to do with Banking) and bookmarked the screens I actually use on a daily basis.  You are the BEST!!!

This new sliding sidebar is horrible!  Please make it go away.

I kept meaning to update my reply and encourage people to try Lauren's work around. It works fantastic and greatly will reduce frustration level. Now I just have disabled everything on the menu bar so it stops sliding around, and I work with the stable and stationary bookmarks. I cannot thank you enough, Sam

Lauren, using the BookMarks was a WONDERFUL suggestion!  no sidebar animation anymore.  I unchecked everything under the Menu option and only use Bookmarks now.  Thank You!

P.S.  I doo can't stand the new update.  What's interesting is the sidebar did not change for the multiple companies (online subscriptions).  I only updated/changed in one company.

I'm almost positive these responses are bots disguised as QBO customer service reps. As you pointed out they frequently answer a question that was never asked and seem to always provide a very broad, generic response to whatever question they do happen to be answering.

Just noticed that my sidebar has more or less reverted to the previous style.  So it appears that this awful  change has been rolled back.   Not sure how long ago this happened as I was using the "Bookmarks" workaround.  Thought I would mention here in case others were doing the same.

Since a week or two, we're able to get the old sidebar back, but you need to switch to the Accountant View. The Business View still shows the new horrible sidebar, but the Accountant View is back to the previous working sidebar. I believe it was supposed to be that way since the day they added the new sidebar, but for some reasons it didn't work.

At least now, we have the choice!

Also, the bookmarks will continue working for both the Accountant and Business View, and it's still possible to hide useless navigation items (such as Marketing) as well.

For those wondering how to switch between Business and Accountant View, check the following link: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/chart-accounts/switch-business-accoun...

Thanks for the heads up.  Seems like they did revert the menus to the old behavior.  I was getting a bit tired of customizing each client just to be able to retain some sense of workflow.  What a waste of time that was.  I'm glad they reverted.  There are better things for them to be focusing their software guys on.  QBO is still a "target-rich environment" for making things more efficient.
