I appreciate you for trying the above-mentioned steps suggested by my colleague. Since you're done with your troubleshooting efforts and still can't turn off the automatic updates in QBD Mac, I recommend getting in touch with our QuickBooks Desktop Mac Live Support Team. They can initiate a screen-sharing session to help you further and, if necessary, establish a case to investigate this issue. To do that:
 

  1. Open your QuickBooks.
  2. Select QuickBooks Help from the Help menu, then click Contact Us.
  3. Provide a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  4. Sign in to your Intuit account and choose Continue, then click Continue with my account.  
  5. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.
