Thanks for letting us know about your concerns, @megan-braswell25. I'll be guiding you in upgrading your QuickBooks Pro, Premier, or Enterprise.

After choosing the QuickBooks desktop that suits to your business needs, you can start the upgrade tool. Please know that upgrading may take some time, depending on your internet speed and size of your company file.

When you open QuickBooks, you'll see a message informing you that a new version is available. Here's what you need to do when you get one:

  1. Select Upgrade Now, then select Keep old version on my computer if you want to keep your current QuickBooks.
  2. Select Let’s go. QuickBooks downloads, installs, and activates the new version for you and update your company file.
  3. Select Open QuickBooks when the upgrade is done.

If you don't get a prompt to upgrade, we recommend you change your one time message prompts. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Edit menu, then select Preferences.
  2. In the General tab, select My Preferences.
  3. Select Bring back all one time messages and then OK.

Once done, close QuickBooks and then reopen it. You’ll have now the prompt to upgrade your QuickBooks subscription.

You can also upgrade QuickBooks Desktop without a subscription. You can check out this article to learn more about it: Upgrade QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
