First, update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to have the latest features and fixes. Try to open your QuickBooks once done. 

 

If the error persists, run the Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tool Hub to close all the background processes QuickBooks uses and then run a quick repair on your program.

 

Here's how to download and install the QuickBooks Tool Hub:

 

  1. Close your QuickBooks application
  2. Download the QuickBooks Tool Hub and then open the file you've downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  3. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  4. Click to open the tool hub and then select Program Problems.
  5. Select Quick Fix my Program.
  6. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.
