Hi there, @satC.
I'm here to share information about the current versions of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) that you can consider.
I agree with what Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned above. In addition, the current available versions of QBDT are 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022. To begin your download, go to the Downloads & Updates page to get the download link for your version of QuickBooks.
Once you have your new preferred QBDT version, you can migrate your company file to the new one.
Before we proceed, create a backup file from your old company file first. Here's how:
- In QBDT, go to the File menu and select Switch to Single-user Mode.
- Go to the File menu again and hover over Back up Company. Then select Create Local Backup.
- In the window, select Local Backup and then Next.
- In the Local Backup Only section, select Browse and select where you want to save your backup company file.
- When you're ready, select OK.
- Click Save it now and Next.
For more information about creating a backup file, please refer to this article: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file.
Once done, you can now proceed with restoring it to the new version. Here's how to do it:
- Make sure all users are logged out of your company file.
- Open your new version of QBDT, then go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
- Click Restore a backup copy and then click Local backup.
- Browse your computer for your company file. You wrote down the file location in Step 1. Select and then click Open.
- Sign in to your company file as an admin user. Before you upgrade, QuickBooks automatically creates a backup of your existing company file. You can select Change this default location to save the back-up in a specific folder.
- Choose Update Now to start the upgrade.
- Click Done.
