I can help you with upgrading and restoring your company file from QuickBooks for Mac 2016, @larsofbatavia.

 

QuickBooks for Mac supports macOS 12 Monterey. Refer to the following article for more information about which versions of QuickBooks work best with it: Intuit’s support policy for QuickBooks for Mac running on macOS 12 Monterey.

 

You can upgrade to a supported QuickBooks for Mac and restore the file. You no longer need to open the file using the QuickBooks for Mac 2016.

 

For detailed guidance on how to download and install QuickBooks Desktop for Mac, see this article: Install and set up QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. This will guide you in finding your license and product numbers and upgrading your company file. 

 

After installing your QuickBooks, you can follow the steps below on how to restore the company file:

 

  1. Choose File and click on Open Company.
  2. Select the file and then click Open.
  3. Follow the prompts to finish restoring the file.
  4. Enter a name for the restored file and then click on Save.
