Hello, iveydido, BethFrisco, and CB Bookkeeper. I'd like to address your different concerns in this post

@iveydido and @CB Bookkeeper. It could be that the program files or QuickBooks Desktop installation may be damaged, corrupted hard drive, damaged or missing QBWUSER.INI file., or damaged Windows operating system.

You can follow the steps below to resolve QuickBooks from crashing.

  1. Close your QuickBooks.
  2. Download our QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install.

When the installation finishes, open the tool hub on your Windows desktop.

  1. In the QuickBooks Tool Hub, select Program Problems.
  2. Click Quick Fix my Program.
  3. Start QuickBooks Desktop and open your data file.

@BethFrisco, I'd like to know if you were able to follow the complete instructions provided by my colleague Tori B? It should normally lead you to where the file is. Also, you can rename the file as you want to name it. Since you're unable to find the file, you can follow the steps:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Type "Run" into the search and open Run.
  3. Type C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v8 and then Enter. If this doesn't open a folder, enter C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6 instead.
  4. Find EntitlementDataStore.ecml. Rename the file. You can name it as you want.

Please let me know how these things for you. I want to make sure you can open and use QuickBooks without experiencing any challenges. If you still need more help, don't hesitate to add another post below. The Community is here 24/7 to help you more. Stay safe.
