Hello @LizGreatVibesCleaning,

I appreciate you for joining the thread to resolve the program issue. I'd be glad to lend a hand with fixing the unrecoverable error in QuickBooks Desktop.

There are many possible reasons why you're getting the error when logging in to your QuickBooks. Aside from checking if your Microsoft is up to date, the other causes are related to:

  • Outdated QuickBooks
  • Damaged data
  • Computer issues
  • Program code needs repairing

In case you haven't updated QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release, let's start performing the process. Aside from improving the performance of the software, this process also fixes common and complicated errors on your behalf.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Help tab in the upper-right corner, then select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Go to the Update Now tab.
  3. Select the updates you want to include.
  4. Put a checkmark on the box beside Reset Update.
  5. Hit Get Updates. Download and install automatic QuickBooks Desktop updates
  6. Close and re-open QuickBooks.

Once done, navigate QuickBooks and check if it's still doing the same behavior. If the problem persists, I recommend you check your user access.

If you have other users using the company file, request them to log in to QuickBooks. This way, we'll be able to determine if it's only happening on your end.

You can follow these steps to recreate the access if the issue is happening to a regular user only:

  1. From the Company menu, select Set Up Users and Passwords > Set Up Users.
Enterprise users: Go to the Company menu, then select Users > Set Up Users and Roles.
  2. Select Add User..., then type the user name and password. Select Next.
Note: Do not use the damaged user name.
  3. Customize the user as necessary, then select Finish.
  4. Go to the File menu, then select Close Company/Logoff.
  5. Log in to the company file using the new log in credential.

While for Admin users, you can run the QuickBooks File Doctor from the QuickBooks Tool Hub. It repairs damaged company files or user accounts too.
