I believe the trial version is the subscription that expired because we've had this version for a bit now. I'm not sure what you mean by "buy QB Desktop". We purchased the installation disk from the store, so why would we need to buy another desktop version? It just stopped opening our file because it wants us to now pay for a subscription.
