We've got some troubleshooting steps we can perform to make the expense account active again and show them in both the Profit and loss report and Chart of accounts, Dagro.
We can make the account active again on the Chart of accounts page. Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon on the top menu.
- Select Chart of accounts (Take me there).
- Click the Gear ⚙ icon next to the printer icon and select Include inactive.
- Find the account you want to reactivate, then tap Make active.
QuickBooks won't add transactions back to the account or edit any journal entries it made to balance your accounts. Once done, run the Profit and Loss report to see the expense accounts. Let me guide you on how:
- Go to Reports (Take me there) and select Standard.
- Select the Find report by name dropdown and choose Profit and Loss by Location.
- Click the Report period dropdown and choose your preferred date range.
- Tap Customise and customise your report.
- Press Run report.
- Select Save customisation to save this report. You can access the report later from the Custom reports tab on the Reports page.
If there are missing income and expense transactions in the Profit and Loss report, you can check out this article to troubleshoot the issue: Find the missing income and expense transactions in your Profit and Loss report.
If you're unsure when or why the accounts were deleted, we can review the Audit Log. Refer to this article for the steps and details: Use the audit log in QuickBooks Online.
Moreover, visit this article to find out which default or special accounts can be deleted, edited, or merged in the program: Manage default and special accounts in your QuickBooks Online chart of accounts.
