I saw your comment about having the ability to save a mapping and reuse that on subsequent imports - if this is important to you then you could take a look at a third party data import app called Axis Online that has the ability to save the maps and also more advanced features like search and replace, join columns together like a concatenate and a trim function handled those tricky data situations that cause your imports to stall.
It goes above and beyond the built-in QuickBooks data import when you are looking for something a bit more powerful. Hope that helps?
