I can share some information about restoring data files and clarify things for you, @Iren7.

 

Renaming your file is used so it will not prompt for any duplicate or existing names. 

 

In addition to that, you can permanently delete the previous data first and then restore it with the same filename. But before doing so, make sure to have a backup copy of it before deleting the said file. 

 

Then, to restore your data, you can follow the steps below:

 

  1. In QuickBooks, proceed to the File menu and choose Open or Restore Company.
  2. Click Restore a backup copy and then Next.
  3. Select Local Backup and then Next.
  4. Browse your computer for your backup company file. It should look like this: [Your company name].qbb.
  5. Choose a folder to decide where to save your restored company file. Then select Open.
  6. When you're ready, select Save
