Qb 2017 update no longer allows 2 versions to be opened at same time?
Since recent update (I installed 9/9/19) to QB 2017, Intuit has disallowed you to have 2 versions open at same time. Unfortunately, if I don't install QB 17 update, I can no longer use Merchant services (which would be shooting Intuit in the foot, since they make money off of cc fees)

I just allowed the latest update to happen on my 2019 version, now I can't have 2019 open at the same time as 2017. I can have 2020 open at the same time as 2019 or 2017, but I cannot open 2017 and 2019 at the same time! Is this what you are referring to? What a pain in the butt... I have 6 companies that I maintain with different versions of QB and have always had three open at once, which makes it very easy... something in the last update created this new issue. Anybody else?

Thanks for joining this conversation, LarryB1.
Are you getting any error messages? As an initial troubleshooting step, let's run the QuickBooks built-in diagnostic and repair tools called rebuild and verify data utilities. These tools will repair and notify you of any possible data damage within the file.
Here's how:
- Go to File, then select Utilities and Rebuild Data.
- Choose OK. Follow the prompts to save a backup.
- Click OK once completed.
- Now, go back to File, then Utilities, and select Verify Data this time.
If QB detected no problem with your data, hit OK and double-check if the date is already correct. However, if it finds an issue, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors. Choose Close, then perform the steps below. Here's how:
- Locate and check the QBWin.log or QuickBooks.log files.
- Scroll to the bottom for the most recent Verify information.
- Find the line that contains the LVL_ERROR, then check Top data damage errors in QuickBooks Desktop.
For additional information about the process, consider checking out this article: Resolve data damage on your company file.
Please let me know if you have any other issues, and I'll get back to you right away. I'm more than happy to assist. Have a great weekend!

YES! They told me on the phone that they want me to purchase the next QB level up (since I don't charge many of may non-profits I am not going to do that) - I think it's accountant's version? I uninstalled QB, re-installed from the original disk and will not allow any further updates.
They will tell you here, on the chat, to re-build, etc etc but it does not work. I found another thread on here that it is Intuit's way of making you purchase the more expensive version of QB.

I am also frustrated with this. I have multiple companies and am paying for a new version of QuickBooks every year in order to have the smaller company open in the old version and the larger company open in the new version. Quickbooks is getting their money. Another reason to answer "would you recommend QB to a friend?" NO!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about a thumbs down! This did nothing to resolve the issue.
