Hi, I am sorry to hear that you have had issues working with the software offline. First I would like to say that there are a few things that will not work without an internet connection:
- License Activation
- Live community which is web based
- Online features such as Backup to cloud, Sign in, Download the program, Whats new etc.. (all those functions under Online menu)
- E-signature

That being said, opening an existing file, making changes and saving the file will work, and if the license is activated, you will be able to open a new return, otherwise you can only work on existing files. From what I unsderstand from the thread above, it looks like the software was freezing for an unknown reason. If thats the case, then we have a process in place and the case should be escalated so that the engineers look into it. If you call the helpline, you can ask for an escalation, an expert will pick the logs and the engineers will investigate.
