Hi there,

Running your business with QuickBooks Online means that you're going to have tons of great convenience tools at your fingertips whenever you need them. Packing slips are used when shipping goods to your customers, and it contains important information such as the quantity and items included on the invoice. If you'd like the packing slip to also contain your item number, I'll explain how to do that.

While the packing slip can't be customized in and of itself, there's a great way to ensure your item number is included on the slip for shipping. When creating your invoice, enter the item number into the Description field. This will ensure the number is displayed on your packing slip. Once you've entered that, you can create your packing slip by following these steps:

  1. From the left menu, select Sales then choose Customers.
  2. Select the customer's name to display a list of their transactions.
  3. From the Transaction List tab, select the box next to each invoice or sales receipt for which you want to print a Packing Slip.
  4. Select the Batch actions drop-down, then choose Print packing slip.
  5. The print preview screen will open so you can select printing options, preview, and print.

That's all there is to it. I hope this workaround helps you meet your goal. If you'd like to leave any official feedback about the packing slip feature for our product engineers, click the Gear icon > Feedback. We're always looking for new ways to improve QuickBooks Online.

Have a wonderful day.
