This is an unfortunate fault in the online service. It was available in desktop and should have been carried forward. Removing the ability to have users create separate numbering conventions for Invoices and Sales Receipts thus requiring users to manually change these numbers, is very inefficient and increases the possibility of errors. I have submitted feedback on this matter and really hope that QBO listens and makes that change.
