It's important that all your tax filings be entered correctly in your books so that all your account balances can reflect reality. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to help you keep track of taxes on transactions so you can file them to the government at the end of the filing period. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with filing your taxes.
Once your taxes are marked as filed, you do need to still file them in real life with the government as this only marks them as filed within your books. The payment for your sales tax also needs to be done through a method outside of QuickBooks so that the government receives your payment, as the payment can't be physically generated in QuickBooks.
