You're on the right path when you went to the Chart of accounts and Reports tab. When going to the Chart of accounts and you've Run report, click on Customise to add filter. Here's how:
- Click on the Accounting tab. and select Chart of Accounts.
- Locate the account, and click drop down arrow next to Account history, and click Run report.
- Click on Customise.
- Click on Filter.
- Under Distribution Account, select the field and tick the account you wanted to show on the report.
- Click on Run report.
When you run the Transaction Detail by Account click on Customise to select a specific account. Here's how:
- Click on the Reports tab.
- Search Transaction Detail by Account.
- Select a Report period, and click on Customise.
- Click on Filter.
- Locate Distribution Account and select the account/s you wanted to show on the report.
- Click on Run report.
From here you can export the report to excel or save customisation. You can check this link to learn more how to customise reports in QuickBooks Online.
