Chewy, I regret that I have but 1 upvote to give. I'm seconding Atizador. I'm a retired IT guy--35 years worth. Never knew this.
For lurkers, WordPad is automagically removed from Windows 11 now, but which program you use isn't important. The key is that it doesn't autosave files. I used Paint. And in Windows 11, at least, the shutdown choices will be "Restart Anyway" and "Cancel". Choose "Restart Anyway". I think W10 was the same, but don't know for sure.
