Install

The error 1603 occurs when the update installer has encountered an internal error, targetpromo. I can provide some troubleshooting we can perform to ensure a successful update of the software.

 

Let's start by downloading and installing the QuickBooks Tool Hub. I'll show you how.

 

  1. Close QuickBooks.
  2. Download the most recent version (1.4.0.0) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub and save the file where it's easy to locate (Downloads folder or Windows desktop). If you've installed it before, find out which version you have on the Home or About tab.
  3. Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooksToolHub.exe).
  4. Follow the on-screen steps to install and agree to the terms and conditions.
  5. Once it finishes, double-click the icon on your Windows desktop to open the tool hub.

 

Next, follow these steps to use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool:

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub.
  2. In the tool hub, select Installation Issues.
  3. Click QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool to run for 20 minutes.
  4. Once done, restart your computer.

 

After that, proceed to solution 2 to solution 4 on this page: Fix Error 1603 when you install QuickBooks Desktop. Once everything's settled, install QuickBooks once again.
