It seems your file is indeed corrupted as you expected. As a workaround, use the Online Tool to convert your data directly to QBO. You don't need to bother upgrading your QB Desktop version.

If the tool failed to convert your data, you don't have any choice but to fix your company file first. Contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA and ask them to fix it. They won't mind refunding your payment in full if the damage is too severe.
