We don't want you to have this kind of experience while moving QuickBooks Desktop to a new computer, @markg22b. I'm here to ensure you'll get this done seamlessly.
When moving QuickBooks to a new device, there are system requirements you take into consideration. You will get the above-mentioned error message if the criteria are not satisfied. The following operating systems work with QBDT 2017:
- Windows 10, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed
- Windows 8.1 (Update 1), all editions including 64-bit, natively installed
- Windows 7 SP1, all editions including 64-bit, natively installed
- Windows Server 2012 R2, Windows Server 2008 R2
Furthermore, since you're restoring the file per business if you manually move QuickBooks, data files will not be affected or mixed up.
Feel free to check out these handy articles on how you can manage installation:
Hope everything goes well on your end. Reach out back for additional concerns regarding this or QuickBooks. We'll do our best to respond as soon as possible. Take care.
