First, use this tool to verify the code: Locate your License or Product Number.

 

If you get the same error, download the QuickBooks Tools Hub and run a Quick Fix to close any open background processes QuickBooks uses.

 

  1. Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub,
  2. Then select Installation Issues.
  3. Select QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool.
  4. Let the tool run. It can take up to 20 minutes.
  5. When the tool finishes, restart your computer and start QuickBooks Desktop.
  6. Open your data file and try to activate it.
