Clarification to above
Was Desktop Pro 2016 not 2018 - apologies - pressure of the moment
- I was importing a QBO converted from a created PDF of a monthly statement using a 3rd party PDF to QBO product - not perfect but quicker than manual import - and not directly from bank.
- The 2016 Desktop Pro option to import directly from Barclays had never worked as advertised and been the subject of extensive correspondence with Quick-books and Barclays trying to get the situation resolved; it involved a great deal of time wasted. A web search will confirm many users had also failed to download bank data - so this is just not me.
- I fairly recently managed to import several months of data in Desktop 2016, after I finally found a 3rd party product, but then one day got a message saying the 2016 bank download facility had been discontinued - I was not using, and did not need, the bank connection because it had never worked - I was just using the capacity to upload QBO files.
Hence my comment above, that Quickbooks had disabled a key function of the core program, abiliyt to upload QBO files = and not as claimed an add-on program which allowed bank connection (which had connected to the bank but never managed to download any data, not least because the bank only provided PDFs - it never ever worked despite marketing claims! :(
