Install
Hi there, @superd1.
Let's work together so you'll be able to back up your files with your new computer. Make sure that you install QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer. You can follow the steps below:
- Your computer meets the system requirements.
- If you haven’t already, download your version of QuickBooks Desktop. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it (like your Windows desktop).
- Have your product and license number handy.
- Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooks.exe).
- Follow the onscreen instructions.
- Accept the software license agreement and then click Next.
- Enter your Product and License numbers. Then tap Next.
For more information, see this article: Install QuickBooks Desktop.
Then, we can back up and restore your file:
- Create a back up of your file on the old computer.
- Copy the backup file to your new computer:
- using a flash drive or other external device; or
- through a network, if the computers are connected.
- Restore the backup on your new computer.
- If you use payroll, download the latest tax table after you move your file.
Also, you can browse these articles on how to move your company files in QuickBooks:
- Move to or reinstall QuickBooks Desktop on another computer.
- Move your company files to another computer.
