And you do not "need" to enter more business info than you want to, other than maybe a valid cc. But when you want to print forms they won't have your info prefilled

But payroll explains the need for business info as business industry code is required on some forms, not to mention FEIN and legal address.
Some questions come quickly to mind
1. How many employees
2. How much an hour for CPA compared to Payroll Clerk at $15/hr
Once you take charge of your own payroll (running a weekly payroll including hour entry to check printing) and carve out just 15 minutes or as an added task to secretary pool think of the improved bottom line. Yes there is time involved with forms and that may be why you involve the $100/hr (low side) firm. But, again, no outside payroll processor needs your qb file or even needs you to upgrade

I agree with your thinking and introduce the possibility of an alternative. Open source software born out of reasons like QuickBooks doing what they do.
Don't be surprised if there's one right now.
And the reason my customer doesn't have an Internet connection is a two word security term "air gap". I'll bet money that the CSO at Intuit has implemented them and if not - they will be in the news someday when they loose customer data.
Connecting to the Internet is a security choice. Selecting a book keeping software that understands my security needs is a top priority.

Lost access to my Windows 7computer. Backed it up a few weeks ago. Can I install my quick books program to a new computer using the application file I copied? I have my license and codes.
Thanks

Hey there, @Cadreamin.
Thanks for reaching out to the Community. You can install QuickBooks Desktop on your new computer in just a few clicks. I recommend checking our system requirements before starting the install to make sure your computer is compatible. I've outlined the steps below that will have you installing QuickBooks like a pro in no time.
- If you haven't already, download your version of QuickBooks Desktop. Save the file somewhere you can find it easily (for example, your Desktop). Have your product and license number handy.
- Open the file you downloaded (QuickBooks.exe).
- Follow the onscreen instructions. Accept the software license agreement and then hit Next.
- Enter your Product and License numbers. Then Next.
- Click Express and then Next.
- Select Install.
- When it finishes, choose Open QuickBooks to get started.
That's it! Once installed, you'll need to locate the Company File from your old computer's backup. Once you've found that file, you can restore or open the file in QuickBooks.
Use the Reply button below if you have any additional questions, I'll be here to help. Have a great day!

I probably need to start a new thread but since I'm here.. I have a client that just purchased the Quickbooks desktop version a couple of months ago. She has NO internet. QB has been working fine but now won't open and has a message saying that it can't connect to the internet to verify the subscription service.

Hi there, @catdog.
Thanks for taking the time to follow along with the thread and sharing your concerns.
Although it's not recommended, your client can use QuickBooks Desktop without an internet connection. However, periodically they will need to connect to the internet to verify their subscription. QuickBooks Desktop requires internet connection so release updates can be sent to the user and their subscription can be verified.
Once your client connects to the internet, the can use the steps I've included below to verify the subscription.
Here's how:
- Click on the Help menu.
- Choose Manage my license.
- Select Sync license data online.
- Once the license data has been synced, hit OK.
While your client is still connected to the internet, I recommend downloading the latest updates. This way, your client can ensure they have the most recent release. You can see how to update QuickBooks in our help article: Update QuickBooks to the latest release.
I also wanted to share our System Requirements guide. This way, you can see what is recommended and required to use QuickBooks Desktop.
Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I'm always here to lend a hand. Take care!

Based on this repy, I can just cancel my QBD 2022 and forget about QB on-line. I do nothing with QB on-line. I am the only employee of my sole owner Sub s LLC and I work with independent cotractors so I have no payroll. I have no accounts receivable and I use the bank to pay my agents. I have a very simple busness. Quite frankly, I could probaby still use the very first version of QB I had more that 20 years ago.
Am I missing anything?

Thank you for your reply - I have QB Pro Plus 2022. I can't turn off Autoatic Updates and I'm afrad I'll get locked out if i continue to use my currend version after it expires. QUESTION: Can I install the Trial Version along side my current 2022 version and open it wih a current back up? My current subscription expires on October 27, 2023 and I want to get past the end of the year before I make any major changes like QB Online or some alternative. Thankyou.

I think I found what I need to download and install the 30 day trial, so I'm going to go ahead with it.
I guess my only concern is; what happens at the end of 30 days?
Thanks.
