I appreciate you following the steps given by my peer above. But since the error messages persist after rebuilding your company file, I’ve got some steps here to help you resolve the problem. We can find and edit those duplicates. Before we proceed, ensure to back up your company file.
We can use the QBWin.log file to find the duplicate names. I’ll show you how:
- Find QBWin.log or QuickBooks.log files.
- Press Ctrl + End to move to the bottom of the file.
- Press Ctrl + F to bring up the Find window and find the word "duplicate" in the log.
- From there, locate the name, account, customer message, etc., referenced in the error message.
Once duplicates are found, we can now edit one of them. For the detailed step-by-step process, follow Step 2 in this reference: QBWin.log: Verify list. Duplicate name encountered.
Alternatively, we can locate each item in the Payroll List and Make Payroll Item Inactive. Doing so will remove those items from the list. Please see this sample screenshot for reference:
