I figured it out!!!
Go to Preferences / Tax 1099
Under tab Company Preferences, Click I want to map to 1099-misc
Change the account drop down to "Omit..."
Go back to Preferences / Tax 1099
Now click I want to map to 1099-NEC
It will allow you to choose in the drop down now.
