Employees and payroll

Thanks for joining on this thread, @fortsutter11.

This is not the practice I want you to experience. I'm here to make sure you're able to print and file the 1096 forms in QuickBooks.

If you're using QuickBooks Online (QBO), you'll need to go to the 1099 page so you can see this form as what my colleagues mentioned above. Please refer to these steps and screenshots.

  1. Choose Expenses from the left menu, then select Vendors.
  2. Click Prepare 1099s.
  3. Enter all information correctly for the tax year, then hit Next until you've to see Finish preparing 1099.
  4. Tap Print and mail.

       5. Pick the 1096 form, then if the form is aligned, tap Yes, looks good!

       6. Select Print on a 1096 Form and hit Print.

       7. Follow the on-screen instructions to mail the form.

If you only print the said form, then there's no cost. Though if you mailed it in the system, you'll need to pay some pennies. For the complete instructions, visit this article: Print a 1096 form.

If you cant still get the form, please do fundamental troubleshooting steps provided by Candice C on the first page of this thread.

However, if you're using QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), ensure that your product and payroll tax table is the latest release. That way, you can print the form without any problem.

Once done, please re-access the 1096 form by following the steps contributed by Nick_M

If the issue persists, I'd recommend running the verify rebuild utility tools to isolate the issue.

You can always check the form status by visiting these links:

I've added some pages about printing old vendor forms and the state's payroll tax regulations.

Let me know if you'll able to get the form and if you'll need more help. I'm just one post away. Keep safe!
