Employees and payroll
Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, hofer.
I'm here to further clarify your questions concerning payroll data migration from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
In general, not all past payroll data is moved. It will migrated in the following manner:
- Paychecks will convert into regular checks. Once you set up payroll, you can create paychecks.
- Payroll transaction details like payroll item breakdowns and prior year employee year-to-date numbers will not convert automatically.
- Employee addresses, current YTD payroll balances, and other employee-level information will need to be entered manually.
- Liability refunds, payroll adjustment transactions, and accounts affecting opening balances will convert to journal entries.
