I'll gladly share the workaround to enable you to close the books in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Based on the screenshot you added, the following message indicates the inability to update all the transactions within the date you have set. To sort it out, we can select a closing date that only covers your three months' transactions. This enables the system to update them and get loose from the error message.
Here's how:
- Go to the Gear icon and select Account and Settings.
- Select the Advanced tab.
- In the Accounting section, click on the Edit icon. Then, toggle on the Close the books options.
- Enter a Closing date.
- Decide what you want users to see if they try to save a transaction that is dated prior to the closing date:
- Choose Allow changes after viewing a warning to make a warning message appear.
- Choose Allow changes after viewing a warning and entering a password to require the user also to enter password. Then enter the password in the fields below.
6. Click Save, then Done.
