Banking
Thank you for posting here in the Community for clarification, @booklover. I’ll share some information about importing transactions into QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
There are two ways of downloading transactions into QBDT. First is Direct Connect. This is where you connect your bank to your QuickBooks account to automatically download the transactions.
On the other hand, you can import your transactions using a Web Connect (.QBO) file. These files are online banking transactions from your bank’s website. The (.QBO) files are downloaded to your computer. Then, you import the transactions so they become available in your bank feeds.
Since you’ve mentioned above that you have your data already in an excel file, I suggest you import your transaction using a Web Connect (.QBO) file and utilize a third-party application to convert excel to .QBO format. You can also directly reach out to your financial institution, as they can also provide this file to you.
The other way to get the file is to visit your bank’s website. Let me show you how:
- Open your web browser and go to your bank’s website.
- Sign in to your bank account.
- Download the transactions in a QuickBooks Web Connect (.qbo) format.
Once you have the Web Connect (.QBO) file, you can then import it into your QBDT company. Here’s how:
- Select the Banking menu, and select Bank Feeds.
- Select Import Web Connect Files.
- Select your bank account.
- Select Continue. A dialog window will appear, indicating that the data has been successfully read into QuickBooks. Select OK.
- Then, review your transactions by going to the Bank Feeds Center.
Furthermore, you can check out the following articles about adding and matching transactions as well as reconciling your account in QuickBooks Desktop.
- Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.
- Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop.
Let me know in the comments if you need further assistance with importing. The Community always has your back. Have a great day!
